Terms of Use
Effective date: September 30, 2026
These terms are between you and Beatbytes LLC ("we", "us"), the maker of Long Game. By downloading or using Long Game, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy.
1. Apple's licence comes first
Long Game is licensed to you under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA"): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/
These terms add to the Standard EULA. If they conflict, the Standard EULA wins, except where these terms give you more rights. Apple isn't responsible for Long Game or for supporting it; we are.
2. What Long Game is, and what it isn't
Long Game is a tool for changing a gaming habit: a plan, a nightly check-in, app locks, and a place to sit with an urge instead of opening a game.
It isn't medical or mental health care. It doesn't diagnose or treat anything, and it isn't a substitute for a doctor, therapist or other professional. Obi and Oracle are scripted characters in the app, not people and not counsellors.
If you are in danger or thinking about harming yourself or someone else, call 911, or call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) in the US. Outside the US, contact your local emergency number or find a helpline at findahelpline.com. Settings › Get professional support lists people you can reach at any hour.
Screen Time locks are provided by Apple's Screen Time framework and depend on your iPhone's settings. They only apply on the iPhone where you set them, and your console or computer is outside anything the app can see or block. What Long Game counts comes from what you tell it each night.
3. Your subscription
- A subscription is required to use Long Game. It's offered monthly or yearly at the prices shown in the app before you buy.
- Free week: if you're eligible, your subscription starts with a free week. If you don't cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, it converts to the paid plan you chose and your Apple Account is charged. You can switch on a reminder before the free week ends.
- Auto-renewal: your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, and your Apple Account is charged within 24 hours before the period ends, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before then.
- Managing and cancelling: Apple manages your subscription. Cancel or change it in iPhone Settings › your name › Subscriptions (or from Long Game's Settings › Account › Membership › Manage). Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Refunds: payments are handled by Apple, and refunds are Apple's decision under its policies. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Deleting your account doesn't cancel your subscription. Cancel with Apple as well.
- Price changes: if the price changes, Apple will tell you beforehand, and where required ask you to agree, as its rules provide.
- Restoring: if you reinstall or change phones, Restore purchase in the app restores your subscription on the same Apple Account.
4. Your account
You create an account with Sign in with Apple or an email code, so your record can follow you to a new phone. Keep access to your Apple Account or email secure; anyone who can sign in to it can see your record. Give us an email address you control. One person per account. You can delete your account at any time in Settings › Account › Delete my account.
5. Using Long Game fairly
Please don't:
- use Long Game against the law or to harm anyone;
- try to reach anyone else's data, get around the app's security, or interfere with our servers;
- reverse engineer, copy or resell the app, except where the law allows it regardless of these terms;
- use automated means to create accounts or send requests;
- misuse the sign-in code emails or our support inbox.
You must be at least 13, or the age of digital consent where you live if that's higher (up to 16 in some EEA countries), to use Long Game. If you're under the age at which you can agree to a contract where you live, you need a parent's or guardian's permission. Long Game is rated 13+ on the App Store.
6. What's yours
What you write and record in Long Game is yours. You give us permission to store, back up and show it back to you, only to run the app for you, as our Privacy Policy describes. You can export it or delete it at any time.
Long Game itself (its design, characters, artwork, words and code) belongs to Beatbytes LLC. If you send us suggestions, we can use them without owing you anything.
7. Ending things
You can stop using Long Game and delete your account whenever you like. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts others or the service at risk, and we'll tell you when we reasonably can. We may change or stop offering Long Game; if we stop, we'll give reasonable notice where we can. Sections 6 through 11 continue after these terms end.
8. Disclaimers
Long Game is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise any particular result, that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, that locks or notifications will always arrive, or that backup will never fail. Some places don't allow these exclusions, so some of them may not apply to you.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Beatbytes LLC won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of Long Game. Our total liability for any claim relating to Long Game is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for Long Game in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.
10. Indemnity
If you use Long Game in breach of these terms or the law and someone brings a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim, to the extent the law allows.
11. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts in Virginia, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring them locally. If you're a consumer in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, see section 12.
12. If you live in the EEA, UK or Switzerland
- Your mandatory rights aren't affected. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live that can't be excluded by agreement. Where these terms say "to the fullest extent the law allows", that includes those laws.
- Our liability. Sections 8 to 10 don't limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else your local law doesn't let us limit. You also keep your statutory rights if the app isn't as described or doesn't work as it should.
- Where you can bring a claim. You can bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live, and the consumer protection law of that country still applies to you, whatever section 11 says.
- Your 14-day right of withdrawal. For digital content and services bought online, you usually have 14 days to change your mind. When you start your subscription and ask for it to begin straight away, you agree that it starts at once and acknowledge that your right of withdrawal ends once it has started. Apple sells the subscription and handles withdrawal and refund requests under its own terms; you can make one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
13. Changes
We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top and, for a meaningful change, tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using Long Game after that, the new terms apply; if you don't agree, you can cancel and delete your account.
